The sandstone is quarried using a mixture of traditional
methods and high tech diamond cutting machines especially
developed and manufactured here in Australia. No explosives
or percussion drilling is used at the quarry, ensuring the stones
integrity by eliminating blast micro fractures.
The sandstone is consistent in quality, has no cross bedding
with an even fine grain. Its compressive strength and great
durability place it among the worlds best “freestones”. This can
be attributed to the lack of carbonates as a binding material and
in its place is a secondary silica binder. Technically this stone is
as described, a freestone due to its composition of rounded or
elongated particles within its cementitious matrix. This special
quality allows the stone to be split equally in all directions.
Generally the product is supplied in diamond sawn, split face
or a mechanically tooled finish. The stone can be cut to our
standard or specific sizes as required. The various sizes can be
used in structural or veneered walling as cladding to suitable
substrates and as paving to suitably prepared areas both
internal and external. Cladding can be mechanically fixed to
suitable walling systems.
